The banks of Ankh-Morpork are to be overhauled to reverse its citizens outdated notion that gold is important. Conman Albert Spangler, aka Moist von Lipwig is appointed as Master of the Royal Mint. Mrs Lavish, the bank manager, dies leaving her dog - who also happens to be the majority shareholder - to Moist.
