19th Century Conjuring Books: A Study of a Private Collection

This text is an exploration of nineteenth century conjuring books, based on the author's personal collection. With over 800 pages, it identifies 216 different titles, representing nearly 1,000 editions, and is accompanied by over 300 colour photographs.

It is primarily a bibliographic study, but also includes other topics such as the evolution of conjuring book production and bindings in the nineteenth century, and a brief history of notable conjuring performers.

The study includes a description of each book with details of; (i) known editions, (ii) known variant editions or issues, and (iii) the author, publisher, bookseller, printer, title, pagination, illustrations, bindings, content and other physical details. All books are referenced against previous bibliographies by Raymond Toole Stott, Milbourne Christopher, and Trevor Hall.
