Description

The eldercare industry is dramatically improving, but friends and family are still the prominent caregivers for seniors. And many of these generous, well-meaning individuals are fighting the battle alone.

Buried Treasure is an essential reference guide for all things related to dementia. It's designed to help reduce stress and improve care in a manageable, focused, and straightforward manner. Author Victoria Jones's two decades of experience show you what to expect, how to guide conversations without causing anxiety, and how to optimize the living environment to make caregiving easier.

This book is about you, the caregiver. It will help you provide the best care you can, make the best possible decisions, and, most importantly, enjoy the special bond you share with your loved one. Arm yourself with a better understanding of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Master the skills necessary to provide a healthy, supportive, and comfortable environment. And finally, develop the knowledge and passion to take this emotional journey with one who needs your strength to make it through these final years.

About the Author

Victoria Jones has worked in the medical and long-term care field for over twenty years. While earning her BA in economics and political science, she began her career in a hospital as a part-time admitting clerk. After graduation, she became a hospital department head, where she developed an affinity for the senior community. Five years later she started a home-care business, which she and her partner operated until she ventured into long-term care for a national senior living provider. While there, she managed a dementia "neighborhood." Jones also has experience as an eldercare adviser for A Place for Mom, which aids families in finding long-term care solutions. Today Jones and her husband operate MyTime, an adult day-care program, in Osage Beach, Missouri.
