Description

The beloved, ultra not-for-kids, modern epic about teenage orphan Tommy and escaped slavegirl Halfpipe who travel through a post-nuke wasteland in search of a new heart for Tommy's dying sister. This omnibus edition collects volumes 1 & 2, the "Walk Among Us" saga.

“GODKILLER is that early display of genius. A nascent voice ready to make a lot of fucking noise. It showed Pizzolo’s skills, his tastes, his balls, and it set the stage for what would come from Black Mask and Pizzolo.” -Tim Seeley (Batman Eternal, Hack/Slash)

“A singular vision full of fresh elegant brutality and dark humor, it’s like some genius commissioned Chuck Palahniuk, Terry Gilliam, and Aleister Crowley to reinvent dystopia fiction.” -Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (filmmakers Synchronic, The Endless, Moon Knight season 1, Loki season 2)

(Starred Review) Best Books Of The Year List: “In Pizzolo’s stellar graphic novel, an orphan boy braves a desolate, post-apocalyptic land in search of a heart for his sister. There’s a lot going on in Pizzolo’s wonderfully bizarre story, but its most distinctive feature is a barren, nearly dead world.  The outside world is filled with decrepit, abandoned buildings, and even characters’ bodies are in disrepair, adorned in lacerations and stitches. The people, too, are lost souls: Tommy defies the reputedly civilized Republic in Silver City and swears an oath to the Burnt, an order he’s only read about in comic books (he took a hot iron to the face, the corresponding bandage serving as a constant reminder of his want for independence). The decidedly adult novel features a good amount of sex and violence, though never in a typical fashion. Muckcracker and Templesmith’s artwork is enchanting and a true visual companion to Pizzolo’s story. Characters are etched in chaotic scratches as if carved in stone, and pages are saturated in a rusty hue, like the soot and dirt corroding the atmosphere. Deftly unorthodox and wickedly delectable; not so much a story as an experience.” -Kirkus Reviews

“Who knew we needed to kill comics in order to save them? Matteo Pizzolo, that’s who - the evil genius plotting to blow up the comics universe. His Godkiller is a horrific yarn of apocalypse, quantum physics, culture jamming, and conspiracy theory.” -Wired

“Like Saga meets Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, Godkiller sticks with you long after reading it. It's filled with sordid fun and cracked horror. Pizzolo has a talent for both quick and heady dialogue as well as creative and fresh concepts that make this devious world of Godkiller a place you'd want to dive into despite how dark it is.” -Ain't It Cool News

"Honestly, I loved it. This is the comic book equivalent of death metal, grunge and punk all wrapped up in a bow that says f you to the socially conditioned norm.” -Alice W. Castle Multiversity Comics

“I was truly moved. It's a dizzying read that will burrow into the core of your being. It pushed me further than I've ever been pushed and it establishes a new level of dialogue in the medium. In short, it's mandatory reading for anyone who loves comics. 5 out of 5 Skulls.” -Bloody Disgusting
