Description

In a depressed society infected with the diseases of anxiety, fear, hatred, and hopelessness, restoring traditional Masculine Leadership provides the only source of hope.

Manhood Manifesto is a book about men, their leadership, and the condition of masculinity today. We live in the greatest country in the world—the United States of America. We also live in one of the most dynamic periods of time in history.

This book is about the opportunity we have as Americans, especially men. This book calls forth the character and skills of American men. To who much is given, much is expected. We live in challenging times, and American men are more than capable of meeting those challenges. To meet those challenges though, there needs to be a willingness and acceptance of the responsibilities required.

This book looks at where we are and how we got here, creating a pathway in which to engage. This process is intended to restore the trust, affinity, and community that has been pushed to its limits in the most recent months and years. The book does so in a way that is somewhat irreverent yet respectful, serious yet fun, and challenging yet empowering.

Mike Shereck has a bias toward men, simply because he is one. If change must occur, it will begin with him and those like and near him. In Mike’s view, for society’s problems to be solved, first men must own it. From the position of ownership, we can now address it. That is what is done in this book in a direct, bold, courageous, sometimes shocking, always heartfelt and humorous way.

About the Author

Mike Shereck is a leader, father, partner, friend, brother, and coach. His work is dedicated to leaders understanding themselves and having them fully own their lives, career, journey, voice, and impact. Mike is a “dude”—a pick-up truck driving, Harley Davidson riding, blue jean wearing, cigar smoking, 100 percent alpha male. Mike is also someone who takes a stand for the greatness of all people, and someone whose heart and soul are open.

Mike sees the division in our culture to be one of the most destructive and disheartening events of his life. He also sees this as one of the greatest opportunities of our lifetime. Understanding that the only way out is through, Mike takes on this challenge every day in his work.

Mike works as a leadership coach and organizational consultant. He lives in Naperville, IL, and owns the credential of Professional Certified Coach through the ICF.

Jason D. Hill is a professor of philosophy and Honors Distinguished Faculty at DePaul University in Chicago. He is the author of five books, including We Have Overcome: An Immigrant’s Letter to the American People. He specializes in ethics, politics, foreign policy, and moral psychology.

Praise for Manhood Manifesto: How Men Must Lead at Home, at Work, and in the Public Sphere

“In our nearly four decades of friendship, I’ve found Mike to be candid, funny, and insightful. The wisdom he brings to every subject and every experience may appear irreverent at first. Eventually, it will settle into your soul in a way that informs the way you live your life. Mike Shereck makes a difference.” —Rory J. Clark, Founder and CEO of FOCUS SELLING®

“Mike brings gut-punching, brutally honest perspective to the world in a time when it is needed most. I have had the pleasure of working with him for two years and the journey has been transformative. His take on the gynocentric paradigm and the call to men to ‘man up’ will leave you with a new way of looking at the world. Don’t miss the opportunity to read this book!” —Rocco Cozza, Founder, the Cozza Law Group, PLLC and Author, The A.L.P.H.A. Way

“Challenge your conventional thinking and dive deeply into this book. Mike delivers a bold, creative, disruptive, controversial, and edgy opinion that will cause you not only to think, but act.” —Ted Kulawiak, Author, 21 Lessons Learned in Sales Management

“This book is a must read for any leader who is committed to showing up more authentically and powerfully while standing in the fire of our modern world’s cancel culture. Only read this if you’re ready to be fully expressed while risking getting arrows in your back.” —Peter Scott, Bestselling Author, The Fearless Mindset

“Mike reinforces ideas that I don’t have to be afraid of speaking my mind. This is important because in running for public office, things can get nasty. I don’t allow that nastiness. I will always be able to answer, challenge, and come back. I insist stuff gets done in my community. This book speaks of the power of clarity and standing for one’s own beliefs.” —Richard Leja, Berwyn City Council

“Mike just gets down to looking at values, principles, what we are in service of, and the integrity of what we’re doing. He bases his coaching on these principles and I enjoy that we’re not using all these crazy tools. Tools are great, but his book is about really simple coaching in the best way.” —Andrew Leonard, Father, Husband, and Entrepreneur

“Mike Shereck is the definition of a real man. He rises to the occasion, he never folds under pressure, and he understands faith, family, and country. His experience over the past four decades is nothing short of excellence. I know this book will be eye opening and truth telling.” —Rick Green, Alpha, Phi Kappa Sigma 2019-2021
