Description
This essay is a historical journey through roads and highways and the meaning they’ve acquired as an essential part of the human built environment. John Brinckerhoff Jackson has led several generations of readers to new awareness of the everyday environment as important reservoirs of cultural meaning and has shed light on the forces that have shaped the United States.
